## Free Cannabis Product Recall Plan Template (WAC 314-55 Compliance – Washington State)

If you operate a licensed cannabis producer or processor in Washington State, you are required to maintain a Cannabis Product Recall Plan as part of your regulatory compliance documentation.

Under WAC 314-55-225, Washington cannabis licensees must have procedures in place for identifying, managing, and reporting product recalls that may pose a risk to consumers.

When I was preparing compliance documentation for my own I-502 producer/processor license, I discovered that while this requirement is clearly outlined in the regulations, it’s surprisingly difficult to find a usable recall plan template online.

So I’m making one available here as a free Microsoft Word template for Washington cannabis license holders.

This template allows you to quickly fill in:

- Company name
- WSLCB license number
- Recall coordinator
- Contact information
- Internal recall procedures

## Why a Recall Plan Is Required in Washington

Washington cannabis regulations require licensees to have documented procedures for recalling products that may present a risk to consumers.

A recall may be necessary in situations such as:

- Detection of unapproved pesticides
- Pesticide levels above allowable limits
- Residual solvent levels exceeding regulatory thresholds
- Contamination or ingredients unfit for human consumption
- Other safety issues discovered after products have been distributed

Having a written recall plan ensures that licensees can respond quickly to protect consumers and coordinate with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB).

## What This Recall Plan Template Includes

The template outlines a structured recall process including:

### Recall Coordinator

Designation of a responsible individual within your company who manages the recall process.

### Recall Investigation

Steps for investigating complaints or potential safety issues, including reviewing traceability data, lab results, and product distribution.

### Notification Procedures

Procedures for promptly notifying:

- WSLCB enforcement officers
- Retailers or other recipients of affected product
- Consumers (when necessary)

### Product Retrieval

Steps for identifying and retrieving affected products from the supply chain.

### Product Remediation or Destruction

Coordination with WSLCB to determine whether recalled product must be:

- Remediated
- Salvaged
- Destroyed

### Recall Tracking and Reporting

Maintaining records and providing progress updates to WSLCB until recall closure is approved.

## Why I’m Hosting This Template

This Cannabis Product Recall Plan Template was originally shared as a courtesy resource by the Cannabis Farmers Council to assist Washington cannabis farmers with compliance.

However, when I went looking for the file online, I discovered that it was very difficult to find freely available.

The only place I was able to locate it was on a document subscription website (pdffiller.com) that required a paid subscription to access it.

Since this document was originally meant to help Washington cannabis licensees with compliance, I believe it should remain freely accessible to the industry.

As a licensed Washington State I-502 producer/processor, I’m hosting this Word version so other operators can easily access and customize it.

- A new I-502 license applicant
- Preparing compliance documentation
- Updating your standard operating procedures (SOPs)
